FAQs about Pokémon Platinum Cheats
In this section you will find answers to the most common questions about Pokémon Platinum cheat codes. We explain how to activate them, what you need to use them, and whether they are safe on both emulators and console.
How to activate Cheats in Desmume?
If you're using the DeSmuME emulator to play on your PC, follow these steps to add and activate cheats:
Open the emulator and start the game.
Go to the top menu bar and select Tools.
Click on Cheats and select List.
In the new window, click on Action Replay to add a new code.
Enter a short description (for example: "Infinite Money") and paste the corresponding cheat code.
Press Save to save the changes and activate the code by checking its box.
Close the menu and enjoy the effects of the cheat in the game.
How to activate Cheats in Drastic?
For those who prefer to play on a mobile phone or tablet, the DraStic emulator is an excellent option. Here's how to activate the cheats:
Open the emulator and start the game.
From the game menu, select the option Cheats.
Press Add Cheat to create a new code.
Enter a descriptive name and paste the cheat code in the space provided.
Save the code and activate it to apply its effects immediately.
Why does the game freeze on startup and my save doesn't load when using cheats?
Don’t panic, your Pokémon Platinum ROM is working perfectly and your save file isn't corrupted, unless you did something really weird. Basically, the problem is that you activated the cheat codes before starting the game, or you left them on in the emulator since the last time you played.
This happens because the Action Replay code tries to modify a RAM address that the game hasn't prepared yet. By trying to write data too early, it causes a conflict, which is why the game freezes or goes straight to a black screen.
To fix this, follow these steps in order:
Start the game normally (with all cheats disabled).
Load your game and make sure you are in the overworld (viewing your character).
Once inside, you can now activate the cheats. This way, the game data is already loaded in memory, and the cheat code can replace it correctly without breaking your save file.
¿Is it safe to use these cheats?
In general, Pokémon Platinum cheats are safe to use if they are activated correctly. They don't usually cause permanent damage to your save file.
In the worst case, activating a code may cause the game to crash, but your save data normally remains intact. To avoid issues, we strongly recommend saving your game before enabling any cheat and testing them one at a time.
Do these cheats work on MelonDS?
Yes, the Action Replay codes in this guide are fully compatible with MelonDS. In fact, they’ve been tested on the latest version of the emulator (v1.1, released in late 2025) and all of them work perfectly, solving some compatibility issues found in the previous version.
However, due to a known bug in the latest version of the emulator, it sometimes fails to detect enabled codes, requiring you to restart the game with cheats disabled and then turn them back on manually. In any case, it is only a matter of time before an update for the emulator is released to fix this issue. For the time being, I would recommend playing on DeSmuME, where cheat codes work properly.
